How burgers became so popular

You may not realise but burgers were introduced to the UK by American fast food chain Wimpy.

It brought over the concept of hamburgers back in the 1950s.

The first McDonald’s opened in the UK in 1974.

Its first branch was in southeast London.

Now it serves more than 3.8million customers a day in the UK.

Burger joints have become massively popular among Brits since those early days.

It means there’s now thousands of chains competing to be the best.
